AMS MHM ODBC SQL Syntax for External Integration?

Does anyone have any information on the SQL syntax for the AMS MHM CSI ODBC Driver? I've successfully installed the ODBC driver they provide and can retrieve data via Excel or Access. However, the ODBC driver does not appear to accept common SQL query syntax (e.g. Select Distinct and other grammar). I believe they are using Syware DeeBee ODBC Driver kit, as I receive a DeeBee error when using improper SQL statements ( http://www.syware.com/products/odbc_driver_kit/drdbdr3.php ). But their...

An Asset Managers Guide Strategy to Action

Maura Abad ·
Every company has known weak performing functions, whether it is in the process of sales, operations and planning, engineering change orders, operations, or after delivery services. In order to implement change and strengthen the weak functions, it is important for asset managers to go to the right parties in the right order for their buy-in – a process that is extremely delicate. It is crucial to start with the department level managers and gain their commitment to allow for a fact-based...

Lessons in Handling Asset Management Information

Reliability ·
by Claire Gowson Asset Management Consultant at eAsset Management So, when was the last time you made a decision based on gut feel? That is, a choice based on what your intuition told you, rather than weighing up more obviously tangible or robust evidence. Was it choosing breakfast (yes – that is the most literal example of gut feel I could think of!)? Deciding whether you wanted a second date? Or was it hiring a new employee? There are some decisions in life where gut feel plays an...

I use the ADKAR tool: Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Action, Reinforcement. Its more for organizational change management but I've found in works in this arena because its simple and my team can relate it to a broad spectrum of changes. The degree to which we follow it (the level of formality) is dictated by the significance and complexity of the change that needs to take place. Sometimes its just running through those steps in our mind, and other times its a fully outlined project plan built...

You need to sort out what is "best" for you consistent with your organizations objectives and the ability of the tool to move you in that direction. If I understand what you are saying, You had the meter running with version 7.3.xx and reloaded the older version 5.5.xx. Now the meter will not run basically, anything. Is this correct? Have you tried to uninstall the old version and re-install the version which was in the meter before the problem began? Sounds like the old version just does not recognize anything, maybe because the old version is not compatible with the new version programs left behind in the meter when the old version...

Dear Ralph, thanks for your share. Yes, my CSI 2130 programs become gray (inactive) after "accidentally" down grade from 7.3.x to 5.3.x. All files for CSI 2130 (backup programs) where saved in original laptop are 5.3.x versions. But program installed in CSI 2130 is 7.3.x versions (there are no backup files for 7.3.x versions). I was tried remove 1 program (Adv. Analyze ver. 7.3x), but CSI didn't detect backup Adv. Analyze program in laptop (ver. 5.3.x). We don't have backup firmware &...

Greetings Derek, That is a great question! as with any dynamic process, planning will go a long way so long there is follow up and follow through. Additionally, there shall be some form of metric to identify if we are headed in the right direction and to adjust the plan accordingly. Please share tools you use, it will be greatly appreciated. Re: Plan or "hope for the best" when managing change?

Harry Cuffle ·
Derek, As with any endeavor, planning is always the best path when managing change. The tools used are also situational dependent on what change you are trying to make. If it is a change to an asset or process , then some type of management of change form/procedure should be utilized. If it is an organizational/people change then the change should be communicated before hand at least to those affected by the change if it is something than cannot be communicated to the group immediately. If you don't plan for change, you fail to plan and an uphill battle. It's about integrating culture and addressing "people, processes and technologies" as you move from one asset management environment to another. This is around outsourcing and being a 3rd party service provider and is particularly relevant in 1st generation outsourcing.
