Demodulation of motor current in CSI 2130

Harpreet1962 ·
Can one demodulate motor current in CSI 2130 with a clamp tester? I want to see side band activity around line frequency and so want to remove line freq as a carrier.Which filter should be selected? Another area i want to see is side band activity around rotor bar pass freq. What should be the filter for this?

Yes you can take live monitoring of time wave form or spectrum using the monitor mode option in manual analyze. Press "Run Analyze" Go to "Manual Analyze" Choose "set averaging" Then change the mode" Aquire mode to monitor mode"

If the tires have already been changed, then how will you get a comparison of new tires with previous tires to quantify the difference in vibrations and perhaps sound? How will you correlate current vibrations to driver discomfort? Are you really considering changing the new tires for something else? Have you measured tire air pressure, wheel balance, and front wheel alignment? I have seen car tires that were balanced on machine off car, but ran rough on car due to eccentricity. I also have...

Hi Walt I didn't really give enough context. they are anode transport vehicle's that do about 20KPH and only have three wheels. the tyres where replaced to see if they would last longer. Harder compound I agree with not having the old ones to compare them to so I will follow up on that and see if we can put a set of the old type tyres on one of them next time thanks

There is a standard procedure I used once where you place a circular plate beneath the rear end of the operator, we made it out of wood, with a accelerometer in the center, 3-axis if you like to be fancy or just vertical. Test specify some strange filtering and measurement but for your comparison a FFT including low freq. may be enough. Olov

I have 2 cases I remember, one was a wood processing thing running around in the wood where the rubber isolators btw cab and frame was wrong and we compared btw. existing and exchanged rubber elements and we just had a normal setup. Other case was a item test for a OEM and that was according to a specification. I can see if I have the actual number. Find the traktors attached data from seat, 2 good 1 bad, peak is engine firing freq. Olov

1920 x 1080 resolution required to be set in windows 10.then this 'plot button box' will appear with in the monitor screen otherwise if the resolution is reduced it will go outside the monitor screen and you will not be able to see that is available.

You should setup the analysis window to show the plots you are interested in automatically. If you need to plot additional data then you can use the manual plot function. It makes reviewing masses of data points a lot easier. See attached for my setup.

Setup is in the AP Sets-you can modify those as you see fit. See attached. General rule of thumb that most use is FMax 80x rpm and 1600 or 3200 LOR (today's computers can handle the data load). I would advise against 800 lines as if you have a large FMax you get poor resolution that will make it difficult to determine specific frequencies during analysis. Collect better data and you will be rewarded. I would suggest you also routinely correct a PeakVue reading on each rolling element bearing...

You'll need the CSI 555 strobe. As the package "A0555-30 Computerized strobe light package for 2130" you will find the product data sheet at http://www2.emersonprocess.com...130_ds_555strobe.pdf Note that it is made by Monarch Instruments (see http://www.monarchinstrument.com/product.php?ID=35 ) so it might be worthwhile to compare prices.

JBALKO, CSI used to manufacture their own strobe, the 444. It is fairly large and somewhat heavy, but it is also built like a Sherman tank, and will do all sorts of things. They cost about $4000 at the time (20 yrs ago), but there is nothing else like them. I "know a guy" who has a bunch of these - some in mint condition - that could be purchased at a very reasonable price. If your're interested, drop me a line: precisn at suddenlink dot net

So no good answers here. So I called Emerson support and they don't even know how this 555 works. I had to send him and email so he could ask some one else. I want this to work like an IRD 350. Walk up while running, take a reference run. Don't have to stop the machine and put tape on. 3 Runs on this machine took 2 Days. The 350 works great, but how long can you rely on that. If strobe works the same it would be great. I never used a strobe with CSI but with a datapac. Not even sure if the...

CSI never intended for it to work like a 350. I started my career with a 350 and balancing was pretty much a pain. As soon as I saw my first digital analyzer with a TTL tach I never looked back. But what you want may be possible, or at least I think it would work with a 444 strobe. There is a strobe adapter that attaches to the DB25 port, and there was a cable that connected from the adapter to the 444. You brought a spectrum up in monitor mode, placed the cursor on a peak and "marked" it,...

JBALCO, my apologies to you then. It's frustrating that so many here don't even Google a problem before they start asking for help. I'm pretty sure your 2130 is not going to trigger your strobe like a 350. It's not meant to. There are much better ways of doing things now. It's the digital age.

If I understand what you are saying, You had the meter running with version 7.3.xx and reloaded the older version 5.5.xx. Now the meter will not run basically, anything. Is this correct? Have you tried to uninstall the old version and re-install the version which was in the meter before the problem began? I was tried remove 1 program (Adv. Analyze ver. 7.3x), but CSI didn't detect backup Adv. Analyze program in laptop (ver. 5.3.x). We don't have backup firmware &...

The OP stated: "HI - How do you set 2130 to use a strobe and does it have to be the Monarch Nova dvx style?" There are two possible answers to your question based on how you intend to use the strobe with the analyzer. 1) Any strobe light (like Nova DVX) that provides a TTL pulse output signal can be connected to the tachometer input of the analyzer (BNC connector on the 2120 analyzer). The strobe light is first adjusted to show/freeze motion at 1X shaft speed, and then the analyzer will...

I finally received the 555 manual, which is basically the user manual for the Novastrobe VBX. I also learned you must have the special CABLE. CSI would sell it but so does CTC (about 300.00). The cable plugs in to the collector and has 2 cables split from it. One for tach and one for accel. I'm not sure if the tach fires from the collector or somehow from the accel via the tach? Maybe that's why the tach cost 2600.00 from monarch (plus cable) and 4300.00 from Emerson. As you will see this...

As I understand it, the strobe should fire of the accelerometer. That signal coming in should send out a tach signal to the analyzer. I believe analyzer should collect accelerometer and tach data at the same time. Unsuccessful so far.

Finally got the accelerometer signal to the 2130 analyzer. Had to use two jumpers to make the wiring like the original CSI cable where it plugs into the unit. I also got the Monarch VBX to work, kind of. It would lock on to the signal, but was off by about 100 RPM. More research needed on that.

Re: Demodulation of motor current in CSI 2130

Walt Strong ·
This information is based on my CSI 2120-2 analyzer for Off-Route Mode: Select Bandpass PreFilter 50 to 300 Hz for 2x Line Frequency and either 100 to 600 Hz or 500 to 1000 Hz for rotor bar and stator slot frequencies. Note that the selected filter frequency must be equal to or greater than the specified maximum frequency of the analysis. The Demodulator attachment for the old 2110 analyzer had additional settings. Good luck with the 2130! Walt
