This is very true whatever Reliability is set in design will dictate future maintenance and only it can maintain to design level.

Keith, I enjoyed reading your article. Very true indeed. The title was a little misleading for me; "Your organization" might have been a better wording than "Operator". In our case its so. Since it's a total commitment of all involved to make a process efficient and effective.The operator is just one in the team.

It has been my experience that home run companies have more to lose by being lackadaisical about their work than an employee of a larger company. If my home ran company has X as a customer, then I will go over and beyond what is expected of me in order to become a valued asset to this company. Many times (and not always by any means) an hourly employee coming in to perform work for same company may be more worried about whether they are going to get home on time for supper than they are...
