Canβt pick up a steady rpm with the speedvue laser when balancing. Works fine with the vibration program. Jumps all over the place when balancing. Using reflective tape & have adjusted multiple settings, but no luck. Has to be something to do with settings, but not sure what. Any help appreciated.

Probably what John said, the trigger level, or your vibration is too high and shaking the sensor... Or you are holding it by hand?
For balancing and speedvue you must likely always need to use a reflective tape or a strong pulse signal from the shaft and set the trigger level

Too much vibration put your sensor on a different surface, it has a very long range you will not have any terribly
Surface your tach is mounted too is vibrating, the tach holder is vibrating, shaft speed too fast make tach tape wider, cable/connector on tach is damaged, distance to tach tape is too great, too much sunlight shaft surface too shiny, wrap shaft with black electrical tape then put reflective tape on top of black tape

It was the trigger level. Never had to raise it that high in the past. Not sure what changed, but something did.
Afaik peakvue send an analog output that depends on external factors therefore there's no trigger level for all conditions.
Check the RPM using the rpm option from analyze mode, it will show the FFT of the tech pulse, change the plot type it will show you the time waveform of the tech pulse, look at the volt peak level and adjust the trigger accordingly, default trigger is 2 volts and it is correct for photo tech, speed vue works with a different way, and can change the trigger point/location/phase angle if the shaft has more reflection/scratches. I suggest changing the trigger level to 4 volts for the peak vue sensor problem will resolve, or use the photo tech CSI 404 b model for balancing.
