this bearing came out of a belt drive toyo pump. vibrations were showing BSF with sidebands of FTF, gSE spectrum shows it the best. I was hesitant to make the call for this reason since it wasn't showing to much in the velocity spectrums. not sure if it was to early to make the call or not? would this be an example of bearing skewing or smearing?

According iso 15243

I think it seem abrasive wear cause of contaminated lubricant.

Dear BFRAN21,

deterioration process in normal bearing is, first you will see damage in Stationary race of bearing, ball elements or roller elements, in the third stage of deterioration progress you will see BPFO or BPFI frequencies with side bands.

roller bearings with high radial  load make acceleration values that look high, I will advice you make a trend from the beginning. GΒ΄s trend.

for me experience, this bearings after 2 year working does not represent any big issue. But deep analysis might be done para increase the life of this bearings.

the spectrum showed many peaks to low frequencies, showing like looseness.

if you like to know which fault frequency is really in the spectrum you have to take real rpm using phototach, and puting this value in software.

is very strange the BSF, FTF, be making problem before rollers and races.

oil analysis must be checked if you suspect bad quality of lubrication, and make comparison with OEM recommendations.

this bearings still are servisibles, and more deep analysis of condition of machine must be done;

polley condition, misalignment, correct tension of belts,

so, in spectrum there are many peaks in velocity, but looks still with acceptable levels of amplitude.

Regards
