Dear all

I am looking for safety   margin of opearating frequency of machin compare to natural frequency of  its frame structure ? 

As you know we have been many exciting frequency in machin such as gear mesh, blade pass ,..

Which of should be consider for frame structure design ?all of them or only operating frequency

Hello Aziz,

I do not know about "safety margin" in this context. Separation margin is a term used in the standards that you may want to see if it is what you need. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by frame.

The APIs offer specifications about the separation requirement for certain parts of the machines like bearing housings. See if the below samples help.

Api mentioned about natural freq  of component of machine .but i looking for separation margin about skid or foundation of machine .between  Exciting frequencies   and natural frequencies of structure which machine mounted on it.

   I have read a text about foundation machine design that mentioned to avoiding resonance we should consider operating frequency and blade pass  frequency but don't mentioned about separation Margin for them

I guess the terminology is important to define if one wants to have correct specifications. Otherwise, one could mix the requirements.

Frame structure: Are you referring to the baseplate?

Foundation of machine: Are you referring to the concrete foundation? With/without grouting?

Skid: Are you referring to the driver and driven equipment?

Structure to mound machine: more than a meaning

You are right, resonance must be avoided but not necessarily by defining the separation margin. Some references call for maximum vibration on the foundation. Some call for weight ratio.
