Hello everyone, thank you in advance for your help, I need to know if it is possible to estimate the realiability of one production line which has 10 different equipments (if one equipment fails the whole line stops), each equipment is different, I have the failure data of the last 12 months of the line (TBF and TTR). My professor asked to determine the reliability of the line per month, is it possible to determine the reliability with the information I have? Also, can I determine the reliability of 4 equipments, the ones that fail the most? Please, recommend any paper and software that can help me. Thank you!
Calculate per unit. Since they are in series adding your failure rates/probabilities will give line failure rate. If your rates are low you need not bother calculating the simultaneous failurere case so its just P(A)+P(B) and need not calculate P(A)P(B) and subtract which could get real messy with 10 units.
Also if your failure rates are low you may have to use more of a Bayesian methodology to do the calculation. Or since everything is in series if you just have overall downtime data you may only be able to use that. Using outright failure data is not always necessarily that useful because some failures may not cause downtime (noncritical failures, RTF candidates).
