We recently installed an oil dispensing system with 120 Gallon tanks, filtered into and out of the tanks. We moved to synthetic and food grade oils and decreased our the number of different oils. We found that while dispensing oil into the transport containers there is a significant amount of static being generated. Some research indicates that the static is being generated thru the filtering process. The system is properly grounded. Static discharge can be seen and heard even though a static line is hooked to the container and the container is sitting on a grounded surface.

Questions : Is this a common problem with these oil storage and dispensing systems.

Are there any good mitigation techniques?
