We have several vibration switches installed on all the fans of the lube oil coolers for MAN compressors. These switches are covered my annual maintenance plan to ensure the correct adjustment, the correct output and the functionality
In fact, the reason behind asking this now is the noticeable developments in the hardware. I imagine the technological developments over the past decade and the commercialization of new simple systems could bring this up again.
One of the recent trends is the use of "edge" devices in which some analysis is done on the site and only the key signals are sent to the owner. Old vibration switches did this in a way but their accuracy/reliability was the issue.
If the reliability issue is resolved, would still end-users avoid them for noncritical applications? I guess I need to make some cost analysis to see the outcome based on the current prices and maintenance rates.
