As engineer, how do you feel about AI-based Predictive Maintenece?

From my side , as electric utility engineer there is so much talk and focus on smart grid, and industry 4.0. for data Analytics , there is big project for that depending on sensory data and ERP system database, and the use cases are promising. for predictive maintenance /condition monitoring, the management asked for complete AI based system especially for underground cables which fail suddenly . in my view , we are still in premature state and... Registered Member You just posted an ad for your product..and the answer is still the same. AI Industry 4.0 stuff still isn't good enough to replace periodic measurements by a competent inspector and then the visual inspection element also. [ more ]

Dynamic range

Registered Member I went back to an old (perhaps too old) manual form IRD and found this specification for another (but similar model). Your model is Model 546DP while the below specs are for Model 544. I've also checked an old 546DP to measure how much the rod can retract and extend. The span I found is about 0.5". Registered Member This probe is less commonly used nowadays. I saw it mounted on large machinery like forced draft fans in power plants where the speed is relatively low. It's more common on balancing machines (feild or shop) specially from IRD. Some portable (route) vibration programs use this type of probe also. I can't give a definite answer to your question but my guess based on my understanding of this sensor is that the dynamic range (125 mil pp) would be the reliable reading range from the generated... Getting the system to sift through the data and find items interest rather than just being a database to house information would allow businesses to be more efficient in identifying and acting on what is relevant.
